A dog carrying a Field Dog Stud Book pedigree is a dog of distinguished lineage.

Field Dog Stud Book (FDSB) is the oldest purebred dog registry in the United States providing dog owners with authentic documentation, registration, certified pedigrees and DNA services.

What is Field Dog Stud Book?

A record-keeping institution for more than 140 years, Field Dog Stud Book and original publisher American Field Publishing Company has long upheld and produced pedigrees of merit. Field Dog Stud Book records are among the oldest purebred dog registration documents in the United States. A dominate mark of legitimacy in the upland field trial canon, these pedigree records date to 1874 and comprise several million dogs of all breeds.

United Kennel Club (UKC) acquired Field Dog Stud Book and its original publisher, American Field Publishing Company, in September 2021.

Already a longtime steward of authentic documentation, UKC offers a myriad of registration options for dog owners and breeders, now including Field Dog Stud Book registration and certified pedigrees for those eligible. For general UKC Registration (for all breeds and mixed breeds) unrelated to Field Dog Stud Book lineage, please see the Registration section of the UKC website. A leader in archival lineage and ever at the forefront of dog sports and verified breeding records, UKC was founded in 1898. Through sporting programs and competition standards, UKC provides the platform to evaluate dogs' skills and ancestry while also maintaining essential breeding records to help owners and breeders make informed decisions.

Owners and breeders interested in pursuing Field Dog Stud Book papers will find UKC ready to help in the continued cataloging and preservation of these records.
