General Information

Event notes: NEW VENUE!!! The Fort Myers Skatium is a wonderful, large, air-conditioned facility that boasts an ice rink as well as a huge gymnasium with durable flooring used for roller hockey, indoor soccer, volleyball and many other sports. We are so very happy that we are able to use this sports facility. There is plenty of room for crating and grooming as well as large size rings. The concession stand will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with food, refreshments as well as coffee available throughout the day. There is plenty of parking and an adjoining park where your dogs may be exercised. RV's and campers may stay overnight at no cost however there are no hookups available. http://fmskatium.org/

The location is in downtown Fort Myers. While there, why not visit some of the great restaurants, boutiques, galleries, unique shops, Edison & Ford Winter Estates, flea market, theaters and entertainment. You could even come by boat up the Caloosahatchee River and dock at one of the marinas.

Best of the Best is offered on Monday. After the Best in Show judging on Monday, all of the winners of Best in Show, Best Altered in Show, Best Veteran and Best Novice Puppy from all six shows will compete for BEST OF THE BEST! This is a very prestigious award and the winner will receive a gorgeous rosette.

SPOT evaluations will be offered during show hours on Sunday. Evaluator is Polly Dake-Jones. Cost is $15. You can arrange the evaluation time around your ring times.

Entries will be limited to 140 dogs in the licensed classes.

All exhibitors will receive an imprinted luggage tag as a thank you gift for entering.
All dogs completing new titles at any of the shows will receive a special neck ribbon award medallion.

Judging program will be posted on the North American Briard Club Facebook page and website.

There will be a decorated self-serve photography area so that you may take your own photos.

We will hold a raffle with many wonderful items so please bring some extra cash to purchase tickets. The money from the raffle helps to defray the cost of having such a nice show at such a beautiful venue. If you have any items that you would like to donate to our raffle, please contact the show secretary at diorbriards@gmail.com

The wearing of masks is up to the discretion of the individual.

Personal belongings, crates and grooming equipment can remain overnight at the facility but the club and the facility are not responsible for any loss or damage. Dogs may NOT remain in the facility overnight.

The North American Briard Club is not responsible for loss, accidents or theft. Owners of cars and RV's are reminded to lock their vehicles as well as any compartments. The North American Briard Club assumes no responsibility for any damage or injury sustained by the exhibitors, handlers, owners or observers or to any of their dogs or property. Absolutely no drinking of alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the building on the day of a UKC Licensed Event.

Section 17 of the UKC Rules will be enforced pertaining to ring and event grounds clean-up. Exhibitors are required to clean up after their dog if it fouls the ring or the event grounds. The ring steward may bring cleaning supplies to the exhibitor and may hold the dog while the owner cleans the ring. Any exhibitor who fails to clean up after their dog in the ring, in the building or anywhere on the event grounds or adjoining park will be directed by the Event Committee to leave the event grounds without a refund.

Exhibitors should always keep their area clean, dispose of all dog waste appropriately and leave the event site in the condition they found it. It is expected that exhibitors will clean their crating and grooming area each day before they leave.

We need ring stewards! If you would like to help with ring stewarding, please contact the show secretary, Denise at 269-352-4011 or diorbriards@gmail.com . Ring stewards will be compensated free entries for one dog on the day/s they steward.

We are so very happy that many hotels in the vicinity have agreed to accept dogs and we will work cooperatively with them to assure that our exhibitors respect the properties. It is expected that all exhibitors staying at hotels will clean up after their dog/s and will keep the rooms clean of dog debris. Exhibitors not following hotel rules, nor cleaning up after their dogs will be reported to UKC.

These shows will be dedicated to the memory of Jim Holmes and Manny Litton, charter members who we lost this past year. They both were well-known volunteers in many dog sports and dedicated their life to the love of Briards.
