UKC Judge #9250

Sarah Lingo

In 1997, I met Matt Lingo, my husband, who introduced me to coon hunting and the Bluetick Coonhound. I instantly fell in love with the natural abilities of the coonhound; its athleticism to work and trail its prey, its coonhound bay and its smart and goofy personality.

My background was showing and working with horses, so it was a natural progression for me to become interested in showing coonhounds. I became a student of dog structure, anatomy and physiology. I talked with people who have been involved longer than myself in the sport and worked with many great mentors. I continue to be a student as I am a strong believer that we can always learn.

Matt Lingo and I have been married for 16 years and have 3 amazingly talented children. Lina, 12, is very involved in musical theater. Freddie, 9, plays baseball and football year-round. Drew, 4, keeps us all on our toes!

Matt and I work together toward a dual-purpose hound and kennel. We have been lucky enough to have hounds that have won both in the show ring and in the woods at the national level.

I have previously had the privilege to judge at Winter Classic, Walker Days, Redbone Days, English Days, Bluetick Reunion, BBCHA Fall Round-up.

I have been in the Sport of Pure bred Dogs for 40 plus years, having been a Professional Handler for the past 35 years of that time. Ive bred Champion English Springer Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, Silky Terriers and Pomeranians. I campaigned dogs from all 7 Groups, many of which ended up being nationally ranked in the top 5 of their breed system.

I was a member of The Dog Handlers Guild and a Board member since 1985. I obviously am retired from Professional Handling and have been judging for UKC along with several registries in the U.S. and overseas I have officiated at several Junior Handling competitions including 4-H events throughout the U.S. I have been conducting Conformation Classes along with Junior Handling in the Chicago land area for the past 35 years.

I have been involved in UKC for 17 years as a conformation exhibitor and breeder of American Eskimo dogs. UKC being the "Total Dog" organization that it is we also participate in Lure Coursing, Drag Racing, and have produced Draft Dog titled American Eskimos. We also have Toy Fox Terriers that while UKC Champions theyre mostly just lap dogs these days.

I became a UKC Judge in 2011 and judge between 5-10 UKC Conformation shows per year. I have been privileged to judge the North American Coton Associations National Show and am this year's National American Eskimo Dog Association National show judge. My judging has taken me all over the world. From coast to coast as well as being invited to judge White German Shepherds in Japan.

For my "real job" I am a Regional Financial Controller for a Fortune 250 company which I have worked for 19 years. Originally from Minnesota, I relocated to Chicago in 2012 and have a five-acre hobby farm that I share with my husband, seven dogs, and three cats.

I am very honored to be selected to judge Conformation for the Autumn Oaks show this year and am very excited to see some true "TOTAL DOGS" compete in multiple different events.
