Holy Cats - UKC Now Accepts Online Dog Ownership Transfers!

Available now!

November 14, 2024

In case you missed it: dog ownership transfers are now accepted via the UKC website!

Read the main announcement

What is an Ownership Transfer?

A "Transfer" occurs when:

  1. You have purchased a dog already registered with UKC and need to put the dog in your own name ("transfer" it from old owner to new owner)
  2. A puppy already has puppy papers and you need to permanently register the pup ("transfer" it from the breeder to new owner, which might still be you)
  3. You need to add, remove, make changes to who is listed as the Sole Signatory and/or any of the Successors ("transfer" it from current Sole Signatory and Successors to the new)

Before November 13th, these two processes were not supported online at the UKC website. Now they are!Previously you could SINGLE REGISTER a dog online (with papers from another registry) or LITTER REGISTER your pups online.

The recent announcement now means you can TRANSFER dog ownership online as well! You no longer need to mail in the puppy papers to finish registering a litter registered pup. Or if you buy a dog, you no longer have to mail in the papers to get the dog in your name that can all be done online! UKC will mail you your updated Pedigree and Ownership Certificate in return.

Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions. The dog-human bond is celebrated through family-friendly programs highlighting the instincts and heritage of purebred and mixed-breed dogs alike at over 18,000 licensed events annually.
