Notice: ESD Rulebook Revision as of January 1, 2023
Because it is difficult for a judge and spectators to be able to distinguish between innocent notetaking and potential cheating/ unsportsmanlike conduct, any notetaking/ documentation is now prohibited while on the course. For those of you who may have used pen and paper to keep track of what blocks you have already searched, here are a few suggestions:
- 6 numbered poker chips, when a block has been searched or a shed is found switch the corresponding chip from one pocket to another
- Saying the block aloud after a successful retrieve. It is known that verbalizing thoughts helps to commit them to memory
- Relying and trusting in your dog, the Elite Shed Dog Series is about testing the dogs ability to search a course efficiently and effectively and the handler is there to receive sheds.
This notice will appear in the UKC Elite Shed Dog Series rulebook starting January 1, 2023.
Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions.
