Judge of the Year Nominees
- Jen Marenich and Rob Lewis
Jennifer Marenich and Rob Lewis have donated quite a bit of time to the sport with a stopwatch around their necks this quarter. They both spent some of their time this past quarter judging Dog of the Year events and together had assignments at over half of the events hosted in the second quarter earning their nominations and recognition for this quarter. Congratulations to Jennifer and Rob for their nomination!
Club of the Year Nominee
- Motown Shed Dogs
Motown had a great turn out, averaging 35 dogs each day. Even more impressive was the fact that it was this club's first event since being chartered earlier this year. Congratulations to Motown Shed Dogs for earning this quarters nomination!
Youth Handler of the Year Nominee:
- Levi Lewis
This young man has been burning up the roads with Tulip Hill's Some Like It Hot "Monroe" this quarter. Finding the podium at Great Lakes (MI), Country Roads (WV), and Buckeye (OH) events! Levi is no stranger to the youth program and at just 10 years old, he shows some great promise to become a fantastic adult handler one day!
Ambassador of the Year Nominee
The ambassador of the year is a unique award because there is no metric used to calculate who was the most involved or helpful over the past three months. If somehow, we did quantify this award, we would have a tie between countless people every quarter. This sport is driven forward by the welcoming, respectful, and helpful nature of all the participants. Ambassadors and nominees, past, present, and future should hold themselves to a higher standard and be role models for new and existing members.
- Gideon Fuchs
The reoccurring theme circulating around the comments from his peers is his helpful nature. He is friendly, encouraging, and well versed in the world of shed dogs. From being willing to share knowledge with those new to UKC shed dog trials to sharing his insight and experience as a wild shed hunter, Gideon represents the sport well. Congratulations to Gideon for earning this quarter's nomination for ambassador of the year
Dog of the Year Standings:
Now five events into the new Dog of the Year format, the field is shaking out to be a bit of a nailbiter! Only fractions of a point separating some of the working dogs and just one great weekend performance for any of the top 10 champion dogs separates them from claiming the top spot. We are starting to see some of the top dogs meet the 8 run qualification criteria and even more are just one weekend away! Between October and December there will be SIX Dog of the Year events! This means that a lot can happen between now and the new year! Best of luck to all our competitors!

Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions. The dog-human bond is celebrated through family-friendly programs highlighting the instincts and heritage of purebred and mixed-breed dogs alike at over 18,000 licensed events annually.
