It's our pleasure to announce the addition of another individual to our outstanding team of Field Representatives in the Hunting Beagle segment of UKC's Hunting Ops Programs.
Matt Turner, UKC's newest Hunting Beagle Program Field Rep.
Matt Turner is from a small rural town in Ohio where he lives with his wife Tina. Utica is in the central part of the state approximately 35/40 minutes east of the State Capital town of Columbus. This makes him very central to the numerous beagle clubs in his region. He grew up in the Hunting Beagle world under the mentorship of the likes of local legend Merle Spicer and others back in the early days.
Throughout the years he has owned and titled a plethora of hounds where he competed in and been successful at most all UKCs largest stages, including one of the most significant when he handled Sir Mongo to a World Champion title win. His knowledge of the formats, procedures and rules is certain and inevitable.
For those that have known him for some time, they know Matt had a resilient drive and passion for beagle hounds and competition. Hes accomplished more than most, and the sport has been good for him. While he still loves it today, hell also tell you that the same drive to compete is not what it once was. Lets suggest that its an age thing that happens to many of us at some point.
In conversation about this idea, it became apparent that Matt is in a good place to step back a little but stay involved otherwise. He agrees that as participant priorities change, as they should for any Field Rep, where being an advocate and serving those clubs and enthusiasts in his area are what is most important in this position.
We are grateful to Matt for accepting this position as UKC Field Representative with his focus on the clubs and beagle enthusiasts in his home state of Ohio. Please join me in welcoming him on board to this position effective now.
We are grateful to all our Field Representatives for their contribution to our sport, most of which is voluntary. Thanks to each one and to those enthusiasts in their regions who lean on them as needed and appreciate their unselfish service to the sport as well.
