Lure Coursing and Weight Pull Rules Changes

Kalamazoo, Mich., February 18, 2016 - The UKC is pleased to announce changes to two UKC programs, Lure Coursing and Weight Pull! We have provided highlights for some of the major changes; however, please consult the newly updated Lure Coursing and Weight Pull rulebooks for complete revisions. All changes are identified in the updated rulebooks in bold and italic text. 2016 WEIGHT PULL RULE CHANGE HIGHLIGHTS:
All changes to the Weight Pull program will become effective on September 1, 2016.
Clubs may hold two pulls in one day.
Weight Pull classes are being divided into A and B divisions. Dogs are eligible to compete in division A until the UWPCHX title is earned and then must compete in division B.
The maximum amount of weight that can be pulled has increased for dogs competing in the B division.
Weight Pull will once again have a 1st-4th place based on the Most Weight Pulled Per Body Pound. In the case of ties, the dogs’ pull times will be used to break it.
Awards will now be offered for Most Weight Pulled Per Body Pound (MWPBP), MWPBP Junior, and MWPBP Veteran.
A 10-pound weight class has been added for dogs who are 10 pounds and under.
The title requirements for existing titles have been revised. In addition, seven new Weight Pull titles can now be earned. The requirements for each can be found it their respective sections in the Official UKC Weight Pull Rulebook.

2016 LURE COURSING RULE CHANGE HIGHLIGHTS
All Changes to the Lure Coursing Program were effective January 1, 2016.
The UKC Lure Coursing All-Star Ranking System has been updated from 2015 as follows:
Section 2. All Star point schedule. Each dog that wins any course (with competition) will receive All-Star points. (Dogs that advance without competition will not receive All-Star points.) All-Star points will be awarded as follows:
Winner of round 1, 5 points
Winner of round 2, 5 points
Winner of round 4, 2 points* (if this is the overall winner or last round) *Or 5 points if the dog winning this round goes one more round.
Stake/Meet winner, 2 points final
Winner of round 3, 3 points
Winner of round 5, 1 point* (if this is the overall winner or last round) *OR 3 points if the dog winning this round goes one more round.
Runner-Up, 1 point final
All-Star points are calculated by UKC and are based on the official event report submitted by the Event Secretary/Event Manager.
NOTE: All-Star competition for Lure Coursing (2015 qualifiers), will not be held in conjunction with the 2016 UKC Premier due to the change in point accumulation.
Reporting Equipment deficiencies has been updated as follows:
Report on equipment and course. The licensed club is responsible for providing proper equipment that meets the specifications found within these Rules and Regulations. The judge is responsible for ensuring that the equipment and lure coursing field is in compliance with UKC rules. The Event Committee should rectify any substandard equipment or field deficiencies found by the judge. If the Event Committee is unable to resolve the problems prior to the start of the meet, the judge must report those deficiencies to UKC in writing within ten days of the meet.
