Bakersfield, California
January 12, 2018
Join UKC in celebrating all things dog at the UKC California Classic, January 12-14, 2018 in Bakersfield, California at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
Spectators and those interested in learning more about UKC events are invited to attend UKC California Classic, a family-friendly dog show great for all ages. Featured events include: Rally Obedience, Obedience, Weight Pull, and Drag Racing, as well as Conformation shows. California Classic is an exciting event with lots to see!
During the conformation shows, watch as dogs' conformation is judged by how closely they match the ideal image of their breed as described in the written breed standard. Bring a camera and snap some pictures of your favorite! Root for your favorite canine athlete while sitting ringside during the performance events, where dogs are trained to complete a set of behaviors or obstacles at the command of their handler. Many dogs present will be competing in multiple events throughout the weekend. UKC refers to this dynamic ability to excel at conformation and performance events as the Total Dog philosophy.
"At UKC, the Total Dog concept is important to us dogs who look and perform equally well are active, joyful and well-adjusted members of the family and society," UKC President Tanya Raab began.
"We host events all over the country, and we are thrilled to bring these show and performance opportunities to California at the UKC California Classic. The interest and turnout has been tremendous for our first year here. Our staff is happy to be on site conducting the event and answering any questions exhibitors might have. We also encourage everyone to visit our website, ukcdogs.com for more information," Raab added.
In between the bustling dog show action, browse the vendors to fill your dog supply needs! Activities begin around 9 a.m., and stretch well into the afternoon. Here at UKC, we love dogs, but when attending California Classic as a spectator, please leave your pet(s) at home as only dogs registered to compete are allowed on the event grounds.
