Elite Shed Dog Series, Season 1: Dog Of The Year and Youth Handler Of The Year Standings

With six events in the books, and at least ten more events scheduled, the Elite Shed Dog Series year end races are far from over. We have some tight races to report and by all indications it should be exciting right down to the finish. As a reminder, Season 1 year end competition will come to a close on April 29th.
Dog Of The Year points are awarded to dogs placing first through fourth in the Champion class at all UKC ESDS events. These points are based on the number of entries in the class. The Youth Handler Of The Year race is based on the number of passes a youth handler has received. They may enter any dog but may only enter one dog per youth division class.
The current Dog Of The Year standings are extremely close with less than four points separating our top four dogs. Jason Rezin's yellow Lab male Scuba Steve currently leads the field thanks to a first place finish in the largest class of the year. Joe Johnson's chocolate Lab female Denver is close behind thanks to four top 4 finishes including one win. Nathan VanSchyndel's yellow Lab female Little Ann shares nearly an identical record as Denver with four placements including a win. Ed Nory's black Lab female Dallas hangs right with the top four thanks to her two first place finishes.

The Youth Handler Of The Year competition is closer yet with siblings tied for the lead. Cadence (12) and Joey Johnson (10) have passed dogs in each of the first 6 events and wait to see who will make the first bobble in the upcoming events. Zoey Rada (14), who unfortunately missed the first event of the season, also carries a perfect pass rate and sits one pass out in the runner-up slot. Jaylin Reezin, Cael Kahle (13), Cayden Ford (14), Colin Bollman (14) and Laikyn Beyer (9) make up the field chasing down the leaders.
With spring events a little more than a month out we hope everyone is making plans for a strong finish in our Season 1 year-end competitions.
