The following pertains to the UKC Elite Shed Dog Series official rules.

Clarification : A question regarding the order in which wins are earned has been coming up lately. Admittedly, the rules are not very clear in this regard and that will be corrected with the next revision of the rules.

Rule in question

Do 1st place wins earned while working towards a CHSD degree later count towards the wins required to earn the ESD degree?

  • Elite Shed Dog (ESD) A dog competing in the Champion class must earn a total of three 1st place wins to earn the title of ESD.
  • The Working Shed Dog (WSD) is not required for a dog to enter the champion class.
  • The Champion Shed Dog (CHSD) is required before a dog may start earning wins towards its ESD.
  • The Grand Champion Shed Dog (GRCHSD) is not a required title. It is a level that may or may not be achieved on the way to ESD.

Answer

In order for a dog to earn the ESD title it must earn three 1st place wins AFTER earning its CHSD title. Any 1st place wins earned prior to receiving the CHSD title do not also count towards the ESD title later.
